Special Notice:
The Rules are being completed at this time and will be published soon. Be advised, though, that The List will
consist of a State Champion for each year ("SC") and two Honorable Mention teams ("HMs"). There
will also be a fourth category which will be termed the Blue Ribbon Panel Award recipient ("BRPA"). Rather
obviously, the SC will be just as the term would indicate while the HMs will be the two teams that are most deserving of recognition
for having demonstrated a level of excellence that earns such a position. Finally, the BRPA will be utilized to single
out and honor a team that might not fit the the matrix but otherwise requires notoriety.
Initially, the selection
process will seek to identify those teams that would certainly be considered among the top 3, 4 or perhaps 5 in a given year.
That process will reference records on the field, the team's conference, level of competition, news service polls (state
and national), The Saylor Power Rating and other information as is available (including anecdotal). Final selection
will be by vote of the involved Board of Directors.
Finally, although eligible teams were originally to consist
only of the "Big School" category (meaning 3A and 4A since 1980) and as may be determined prior to that
year, the Board has considered expanding the process to inlcude all schools. Thus, we welcome nominations that would
include any team for any year. Later the Directors will consider refininements to the process.
